So, you’re an up and coming Doom Master (DM) with a Friday night game session of Claustrophobia! in the works. You’ve got snacks, you’ve got victims (also known as players) and you’ve even got an adventure. All you’re missing is a neat way to cause mayhem and destruction. Well, have no fear, I present to you… The Table of Trouble. 1kv6y
What role-player doesn’t like loads of tables? Well, the Table of Trouble is really five tables rolled into one neat little sentence:
The blank blank of the blank is on blank alert of blank.
Now, that may seem pretty useless. Stay with me a bit. Let’s define blank:
The [table 1] [table 2] of the [table 3] is [table 4] at alert of [table 5].
Okay, let me make it even simpler:
Table 1 | Table 2 | Table 3 | Table 4 | Table 5
The | 1) front | 1) flange | of the | 1) hull | is | 1) covered in zombies | at alert of | Earth’s Surface: d6 -2. |
2) aft | 2) power core conduit | 2) track drive | 2) slimmed | Earth’s Crust: d6 -1.
3) top | 3) gizmo | 3) propulsion drive | 3) rattling loudly | Upper Mantle: d6.
4) bottom | 4) sprocket | 4) drill unit | 4) in another dimension | Lower Mantle: d6 +1.
5) port | 5) flux capacitor | 5) nuclear power core | 5) spewing smoke | Outer Core: d6 +2.
6) starboard | 6) muffler bearing | 6) communications network | 6) engulfed in flame | Inner Core: d6 +3. |
Note that table 5 is a little different. Select the area the players are in and add the corresponding modifier to your dice roll. This is the threat level , which the players must test against. They need to beat your roll to recover from that condition.
Thanks to Kalecoauto.com and Chris V for some of the great part names in table 2. Thank you to Chris V for providing the giant shoulders to stand on. If you have any questions or comments lemme know, especially if you try this out in your own game. , the end of July 2012 is your last chance to participate in Claustrophobia!
